New York Fashion Week Woman: the best and the worst of the week!
After a week full of catwalks, famous designers, important dresses, VIPs and super models, here is the New York Fashion Week , one of the most anticipated weeks in the world of international fashion for industry experts and fashion lovers in general, where famous stylists and emerging designers have the opportunity on this occasion to get noticed and show off all their talent and enthusiasm.
Why New York Fashion Week is so important
New York Fashion Week is held twice a year: in September and February, and is entirely centered on the Fall-Winter collections of the stylists present; every year it stands out for the presence of highly talented designers and this year was no exception by hosting some of the caliber of: Bagley Mischka , Aniesa Hasibuan , Naeem Khan and others even more famous such as Micheal Kors , Monse, Oscar de la Renta and Philipp Plein .
Micheal Kors
Among the big names, one of the best performances was that of Micheal Kors who once again tried to stand out by obtaining excellent results. In fact, Kors was the only one to give up the usual accompaniment music, replacing in their place a real symphony orchestra that marked the steps of the models who paraded on the catwalk. Of the series, style is not water and is in fact the key to success of the Kors autumn / winter collection, characterized by sophistication in details, elegance and creativity.
The aspect that we appreciated the most of this performance was the entrance on the catwalk of the curvy model Ashley Graham! Micheal Kors is proving not to joke when he says that beauty is not a unique model and that it is the task of fashion to accept a more inclusive definition.
Badgley Mischka
Considered by Vogue as one of the top 10 US fashion brands. Mark Badgley and James Mischka represent a formidable duo because they manage to match glamor with elegance by creating clothes suitable for women of various ages without being “ excessive ”.
New York Fashion Week gave us an idea of what such a style means and we were truly impressed by the beauty of the clothes and the elaborate workmanship of the fabrics.
Oscar de la Renta
Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia return to the helm of the brand that made them establish themselves as internationally renowned designers. The new debut is worthy of all good intentions and expectations because the two are absolutely formidable and present a sensual, elegant and original collection, worthy of a historic fashion house like de la Renta.
Marc Jacobs
As usual he tries to create original performances, but from our point of view this time it is a bit patchy. It completely eliminates the music, makes the models and models together motionless and prohibits the public from taking photos and filming videos. Marc Jacobs creates a new way of experiencing fashion but perhaps he does it in the wrong way.
Fashion is not a painting, it is not rigid and immutable but it is dynamic, eclectic and always in constant evolution, a wrong representation forces fashion into dimensions in which it cannot be imprisoned and in this way Jacobs distorts it a bit too the concept.
Bibhu Mohapatra and Vivienne Tam
Spotted or solid-colored furs can also be passed over tight-fitting striped dresses in very cold tones … but the makeup of the models, help: eyeshadow on the lids and under the eyes in bright pink that contrasts in a very strange way with the clothing… Bibhu no, no we forgive you, just as we do not forgive Vivienne Tam for the stylistic choice of putting a lumberjack plaid shirt on the contrary over an adorned and two-tone pleated skirt in amaranth red and dark green tones.
Adam Salman
If designers like Kors and Parabal Gurung are starting to include women of different physical shapes in their catwalks, from the same line it is certainly not Selman, who continues to offer skinny models bordering on anorexia. Fashion is a constant change and we have already said this. A young talent like Selman cannot fail to take this into account. We were not even crazy about the knee-high tights (below the knee or just above) combined with the dresses or the fuchsia and red combination scattered here and there during the show.
It simply did not convince us but we hope to change our minds in the future.
