New York Fashion Week: review of the event dedicated to fashion
New York Fashion Week opened what is traditionally referred to as the fashion month.
2022 then begins with a good news: after almost two years of forced stop due to the Covid pandemic, this year the fashion weeks will work like the Formula One championship, with the whole “system” moving, moving , covers stages and locations around the world. Naturally, as always, it all starts with New York which, as the first show, inaugurates the “games” on February 11 and closes them on the 16th. And it does so by aiming for the next cold, that autumn-winter that will usher us in 2023. The ticket towards the next cold season is called knitwear … but there is also a great desire to shine with sequins and reflective fabrics.
Let’s find out more in this review post at New York Fashion Week. Let’s see together what were the most interesting names and shows of the made in USA fashion week and the main trends from which to draw inspiration for your outfit for next autumn-winter, still far in time, but very close ideally.
The new (and old) trends of New York Fashion Week
New York Fashion Week in February promoted wool . The traditional one, made of thick and warm wool threads, the one to knit like our grandmother did. And how many young women are still rediscovering today. In reality, knitwear had already launched the world of fashion in 2021, but in 2022 it became trendy . And she will be even more so next autumn-winter. Because vintage not only never goes out of fashion but, on the contrary, creates the basis for future fashion ideas to come.
Wool sweaters with a modern taste, which can be combined with tight skirts, sheath dresses (Latta) but also with colored trousers (Johnson) and under a leather or fur vest.
The tradition of the sweater is associated with a return to sequins, velvet reflections , crystals. We are looking for a way to shine and get noticed, with a slightly seventies style but that never clashes.
In a nutshell, New York promotes 2022 in the name of tradition and, once again, of the exaltation of a precious past to learn more and more from it to better face the future.
The stars and the new discoveries of New York Fashion Week
The stars of the New York runway celebrate glitter (see the sequin suits by Bronx and Banco or the bright casual Altuzarra and the gritty glamor of Carolina Herrera ), the captivating ethnic colors and designs (Gabriela Hearst) and even extreme knitwear, such as the balaclava of the Kardashians and Proenza Schouler.
Then the “new generation” also stand out. We are obviously talking about emerging designers. Collina Strada presents its collection with a film and a TV series dedicated to its own fashion house. Maisie Wilen instead shows the holograms of her models, inaugurating the new world of the “metaverse”, which still frightens many but not the stylists of the so-called “Generation Z”.
Then there is always the risk that the spectacle obscures what really matters, that is the clothes. The risk that the Puppets and Puppets brand does not run . The collection that the new brand presents in New York invites you to dress as you would every day. Quality garments, certainly, but easy to find, wear and take on the street without necessarily creating a scandal. Here too knitwear dominates, especially the one that enhances the casual. Few frills, few sequins but a lot of style. In short, New York style!
