The last time we got to see Ross Poldark was almost a year ago. Finally, the series is about to return to BBC One. However, this is a bittersweet return, as the next season, the fifth of the series, will be the last .
The series, which is set in 18th-century Cornwall, stars Aidan Turner as mine owner Ross Poldark and Eleanor Tomlinson as his wife Demelza. The filming of the final season concluded in early 2019 but the official release date is not yet available .
Although we don’t know the exact day, it has been confirmed that the new installment of ‘Poldark’ will take place this summer. Also, according to writer/producer Debbie Horsfield, it seems that all the requests and rumors about seeing Poldark as James Bond have definitely been heard by someone, and in the new season we’ll get to see the Poldark character channel the spy inside him.

The cast
In the fifth season of ‘Poldark’ returns Aidan Turner, the protagonist, along with Eleanor Tomlinson, who plays Ross’s wife , Demelza; as well as Jack Farthing, Luke Norris, Gabriella Wilde, Ellise Chappell, Harry Richardson, Tom York and Beatie Edney.
In addition to the returning characters, there are also new additions for the new season .. Some of the new faces that will join us are Lily Dodsworth Evans (‘Genius’), Kerri McLean (‘Electric Dreams’), Sofia Oxenham (‘Grantchester’), Vincent Regan (‘300’), Peter Sullivan (‘Entebbe’) and Freddie Wise (‘Maleficent 2’).

What will happen in season 5
‘Poldark’ is based on a series of novels by writer Winston Graham. The previous four seasons of the project have covered the first seven books in the series. Season 4 concluded in 1799 with the death of Elizabeth Warleggan, Ross’s childhood sweetheart and wife of his old rival George .
If the fifth season of ‘Poldark’ followed the next book in the Winston Graham series, The Stranger from the Sea, it would jump a decade or so to 1810,with Ross in his mid-50s and Demelza in his late 40s. That would mean the show’s lead would have to age considerably (currently Aidan Turner is 35 and Eleanor Tomlinson is 27).
However, the show’s writer, Debbie Horsfield, has confirmed that the final season is moving away from the books. Rather than skip an entire decade, the final episodes of ‘Poldark’ will focus on and cover the “lost decade” not addressed in the novels .
In The Stranger from the Sea, Winston Graham makes many references to the developments that occurred in the ‘gap’ years, as well as historical events and people of the time, both in Cornwall and London. TheSeason five will take advantage of all this to follow the lives of the Poldarks, George Warleggan, the Enyses and the Carnes in this intervening period.

Aidan Turner turned spy
In the last season we will meet Ross Poldark in book eight, who will be on a special mission for the British government in Portugal . Thus, the viewers wonder how the protagonist goes from being a politician and owner of a mine to being a spy.

When is it released
Right now,We don’t know exactly when the new season of ‘Poldark’ will air , either in the UK or the US. A premiere date has not been announced for either country, although the series should air sometime before the end of the year and everything points to it being this summer.
In the UK, the series’ final two seasons premiered in June. Instead, the last few seasons of ‘Poldark’ have premiered in late September or early October in the US on PBS, so season 5 is likely to arrive in both the UK and the US . on the same dates as above .
‘Poldark’ is a British series, which has broadcast every episode on BBC One in the UK, before appearing on PBS in the US. In recent installments, American audiences had to wait several months to catch up with the series after a new premiere, so this will probably happen again for the fifth.
