What is Kahoot!
Kahoot! It is designed as a method of speeding up learning that combines educational content with the contest format : learning is achieved through the stimulation of competition. Since it is a format of short questions, it does not allow to delve too deeply, and is rather seen as a method of reviewing the content already acquired.
However, the advantage is that the teacher controls the pace of the game through the app . After the teacher creates the questions, the students must enter the game by entering a code, and answer the questions at the pace set by the teacher, who can insert explanations whenever he wishes.
The application also allows you to include images and videos, and once finished, a podium with the best scores is displayed . The teacher can export the results to Excel or include them in Google Drive for evaluation.
According to the needs of the teacher, there are four types of Kahoot! within the same application.

1. Quiz
Allows you to create a test-type exam in which the student answers short questions created by the teacher, choosing the four answer options offered by the game . You find it, in the application, with a question mark.
It is thinking to introduce and review knowledge with the support of the teacher’s explanation in an interactive way.

2. Jumble
It is symbolized in the application with a puzzle piece and offers a more dynamic variant of the game: the student does not have to choose between one of the four options, but place each of the four answers in sequence : for example, order four capitals according to number of inhabitants from more to less.

3. Discussion
This option allows you to add a debate for each Kahoot, which corresponds to one question for each Kahoot . It is designed to allow discussion in the classroom around a question that works as a stimulus and motivation.

4. Survey
The “Survey” option allows you to carry out a questionnaire on the same question through different questionsto capture the opinion of the student. For example, a question can be “Do you normally watch TV
”, with the answers “Yes” and “No”, and then “What types of content do you watch
” with the answers “Informative”, “Documentaries”, “Entertainment” , “Sports”.

How to create a Kahoot!
Create a Kahoot! It is a process as agile as its learning method pretends to be: it consists of two parts, the preparation of the test and the game guide. All this can be completed in a few very simple steps.

1. Register in the application
The teacher must start by registering on the website by filling out a form that does not take more than a minute. By entering a date of birth and a username you will have successfully registered and can start creating your own test.

2. Choose the type of Kahoot!
You must select between the four types of Kahoot! that we indicated previously, taking into account the class dynamics that you want to introduce. Although they all offer very interesting aspects,Normally, the “Quiz” modality is used .

3. Create a new test
To create a new test, all you have to do is write a title (for example, “Mathematical functions test”), a language and add a photo , if you feel like it.

4. Pose the questions
In the Add question option you create a new question, writing the statement in the title, and writing four possible answers (one real). Do not forget to also program the time for each answer. You can ask as many questions as you want following the same procedure, and when you have finished, hit the Save button. As simple as that!

5. Open the game
Here begins the second part of Kahoot!, which consists of guiding the game.
The teacher is in charge of opening the Kahoot! on your computer through the website.
Within the page, you must decide if it will be a classic game of all against all, or in a team, and in the Game Options option you have a whole range of options to design the type of game (with podium or without podium, random questions or by order etc). Once the rules are established, a PIN code will be created with which the students can access.

6. Mechanics of the game
When all the participants are ready, the teacher presses the Start buttonAnd the questions begin. Each student can play from their computer or mobile application, and at the moment the true answer is known. At the end the result is shown, with a podium if you had selected that option.

How to find Kahoots already made in Spanish
The advantage of building tests online is that you can share them in a large teaching community connected through the network. There are currently more than 500,000 kahoots in Spanish that you can use to play directly as they are, or duplicate them to edit them as you see fit.
It is as simple as accessing the section within the website called Find Kahoot, where most are in English, but you can filter by languageand, in addition, restrict your field of interest through the search engine, for example, by typing “philosophy”.
The Kahoot community grows every day, and the test base is getting richer. Not all the tests are usable, but there is a wide range that can serve as the basis for a new questionnaire, or you can even start playing by pressing the Play button.
