More and more remakes and reboots are being released lately in Hollywood. And now it’s the turn of ‘Look who’s talking’. Sony Pictures-owned Screen Gems is bringing the 1989 comedy starring John Travolta, Kirstie Alley and Bruce Willis back to the big screen .
According to Deadline exclusively, the director and screenwriter of the remake will be Jeremy Garelick (‘The Wedding Guru’) and Adam Fields (‘The Wedding Guru’, ‘Donnie Darko’) will produce. As they have confirmed , Garelick has just got down to work with the writing .
As happened with the successful movie ‘The Wedding Guru’, also from the producer Screen Gems, Jeremy Garelickis developing a new version that allows a diverse cast .
The personal situation of the director will influence the film
According to the director of the reboot, “What excites me about making this film is that I have four children, including twins, and this fiction we can all see together and share part of the experience I had. with my wife ”.
He added that “ I like to find out how to raise these children, with all the mistakes that usually occur.Adding the voices that are related to the facial expressions really seems like a fun idea. Everyone can relate to babies. The challenge is that that was a really good movie, Travolta and Kirstie Alley had great chemistry and Amy Heckerling wrote a great script. We’re in the early stages of figuring out what the story will be for the modern version of the movie.”
Garelick is the founder and runs parallel to American High , a production company created in 2017 specializing in teen comedies in hopes of creating the kind of movies enjoyed by fossilizing adults who spent their formative years watching John Hughes movies in the 1980s.
They’ve shot five R-rated movies in the first year, at a high school they bought and named it Syracuse Studios. The goal is to produce five to ten films each year .

Who will appear in the reboot
? It’s still very early days, so no casting news yet. Garelick seems intent on keeping the baby voiced by an older actor , so it will be interesting to see who replaces Bruce Willis in that regard.
The fact that Garelick wants to take ‘Look Who’s Talking’ in a more modern direction could also be interesting, maybe it couldreplace single mom Alley with a single dad or focus on the burgeoning relationship between an LGBTQ couple.
What was the movie
‘Look Who’s Talking About’ tells the story of James (John Travolta), a taxi driver who strikes up a friendly relationship with a client Mollie (Kirstie Alley) during her pregnancy. James, without realizing it, witnesses the birth of his son Mikey (who maintains internal monologues with the voice of Bruce Willis) . From there, Travolta and Alley’s characters become friends and then some as they realize their feelings for each other.
